CS5 is here.

Creative Suite 5 is here. I’ve had the pleasure of testing out CS5 for the past few months and I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s the best version yet. It runs blazing fast on my Mac mini (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26GHz with 4GB 1066MHz DDR3). Features like Photoshop’s Content Aware Fill are not to be missed. Not sold on an upgrade yet? Grab one of the trials. If you skipped CS4, some of the interface changes are going to take some time to get used to. (Tabs are a productivity lifesaver!!)

    • There are lots of little things, but for me the main benefit of the new version is stability and speed. It works really well on my Mac mini and I’ve only got a 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo in it. Running it in 64-bit seems to help.

    • I have to agree. I don’t necessarily see the need to plunge another two grand into software that offers marginal benefits in day-to-day activities. CS6 will be out before the end of 2011 and will be my next upgrade unless I find an employer that will upgrade my home software for me.

  1. The best enhancement I could ask for is quicker startup and load times. Sometimes startup feels like an all afternoon affair.

    • A lot of that will depend on your hardware. 64-bit systems are probably going to get the best performance out of CS5. Having a kick ass graphics card can’t hurt either.
