Can Trent Reznor’s TV Show Save HBO?. Honestly, if Trent were to create a show for HBO based on Year Zero, I’d subscribe to it. The whole ARG surrounding the release of Year Zero was incredibly well put together. Unless HBO were to screw it up… a YZ series could and should be pretty epic.

Discipline

Filed under Entertainment on August 14th, 2008 by Chris

(First things first: Sorry for the shakiness.) I shot this at last night’s Nine Inch Nails concert at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, GA. The show was epic, to say the least. The song is Discipline off of their latest album, The Slip. See http://theslip.nin.com for more info.

You can also view this over at Viddler. (You can also download the video from there as well.)

NIN’s “the slip” is licensed under a creative commons attribution non-commercial share alike license. This video, obviously, falls under the same license. Enjoy!

Radiohead offering was insincere

Filed under Asides on March 14th, 2008 by Chris

Reznor: Radiohead offering was insincere, industry is inept. “…if you look at what they did, though, it was very much a bait and switch to get you to pay for a MySpace-quality stream as a way to promote a very traditional record sale.”

Introductory video from Trent Reznor announcing the Nine Inch Nails’ Ghosts Film Festival. A copy of the official announcement (which I’d link to on nin.com, but permalinks don’t seem to ever work…) can be found after the jump.

Free At Last

nin Free At Last. According to a post on NIN.com, Trent Reznor announced the following:

Hello everyone. I’ve waited a LONG time to be able to make the following announcement: as of right now Nine Inch Nails is a totally free agent, free of any recording contract with any label. I have been under recording contracts for 18 years and have watched the business radically mutate from one thing to something inherently very different and it gives me great pleasure to be able to finally have a direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate.Look for some announcements in the near future regarding 2008.Exciting times, indeed.posted by Trent Reznor at 10:45 AM.

In other news, his last label-backed album “Year Zero Remixed” will be out November 20th. Rock on, Trent. Rock on.

Steal Away

Filed under Asides on September 17th, 2007 by Chris

“Last time I was here, I was doing a lot of complaining about the ridiculous prices of CDs down here. And that story got picked up and got carried all around the world and now my record label all around the world hates me, because I yelled at them, I called them out for being greedy f***ing a**holes. I didn’t get a chance to check, has the price come down at all? I see a no, a no, a no… Has anyone seen the price come down? Okay, well, you know what that means… STEAL IT. Steal away. Steal and steal and steal some more and give it to all your friends and keep on stealin’. Because one way or another these motherf***ers will get it through their head that they’re ripping people off and that that’s not right.” - Trent Reznor (via)

Year Zero

Filed under Entertainment on April 9th, 2007 by Chris

Nine Inch Nails: Year ZeroThe new album from Nine Inch Nails will be out on April 17th. You can listen to it in its entirety here. I’ve been listening to it pretty much all weekend. I was familiar with tracks like Survivalism, In This Twilight, Me I’m Not, My Violent Heart and The Beginning of the End, because they were leaked as part of the Year Zero ARG. I loved all of these tracks, and my big fear was that the album could only go downhill from here… Man, was I wrong. Tracks like The Good Soldier and Capital G are just as good, if not better than what was leaked. I cannot wait to pick up a copy when it comes out.

Update: I’ve noticed a lot of search engine traffic hitting this post… If you’re looking for a download of the album, you won’t find one here. If you’re resourceful, you can get 256kbps songs from the flash player on the YearZero site. But seriously, April 17th is not that far off. Support NIN and buy the album. It’s worth it.
