Clerks 2 Begins Filming Today

The Passion of the Clerks

Kevin checks in at lunch with this update:

“So we’re at lunch, after shooting all morning. Happy as … with the performances thus far. It’s pretty much a Brian/Rosario scene (and one of the only days in which Jeff doesn’t have the lion’s share of the dialogue), and they’ve dazzled thus far.

Set looks incredible. Ratface and crew out-did themselves.

Post-lunch, we’re on our eighth set-up (it’s a six page scene). Mewes was here for awhile, but then crashed in his room. Our crew is made up of folks who’ve worked on every flick we’ve done thus far, so it’s a real reunion show.

I bring this up, because I am a huge fan of Kevin Smith’s movies. I can’t tell you how many times I have seen Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back… Yes, one could argue that the language and some of the situations in these movies are questionable, but once you look past those “flaws” you’ll see genius. Smith can definitely tell a story, and this was one I assumed would be over after “Strike Back”… If you’d like to keep up with development of the movie, head on over to Clerks2.com to view the movie blog.
