Augusta GA Apple Store

Augusta Mall is getting an Apple Store next month. This work in progress is two doors down from The Chop House in the Promenade area of the mall. Below are just a couple of shots… I’ll try to get more over the coming weeks and update this post as progress becomes more evident.

UPDATE: Apple Store — Augusta will open its doors on 19 September 2009 at 10am.

Apple are going to try and open as many stores as they can. Before the Microsoft stores open up anyway

Whoa! I wonder what this will do to PeachMac? I thought they had an agreement with Apple to not compete in this area with an actual Mac Store.

Interesting. From my inside source at PeachMac, the owner of the PeachMac personally knows Steve Jobs and was promised that he could open PeachMac without threat of competition from Apple.

I hope they stick around. PeachMac’s a great little store and I’m glad it’s in town. (Though, to be honest, I wasn’t impressed with the “help” I got there my last visit. Kid working the register was more interested in playing on his iPhone than letting me pay.)

I don’t know anything for sure, but I heard that the management company for the Augusta Mall may have strong-armed Apple and other retailers to open stores here. (e.g. “Setup shop here, or you won’t setup shop anywhere else.”)
