Last night I had the opportunity to talk about Microformats at the November RefreshAugusta meeting. To support the slides, I created a microsite with links to all of the sites mentioned in the slides. Hopefully you’ll find this useful. I’m also making the slides available for you to reuse/repurpose/remix under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License:

  1. The microsite looks great.

If interested, here’s my presentation for RefreshMiami.

    1. Thanks! :) I really dug how you had your presentation setup in browser. I had completely forgotten about S5. May need to use it for future presentations, or at least provide a format that utilizes it.

  2. Ya know, I used to be all about Microformats. I still think they’re uber cool but I wonder if the future will prove them to be worthwhile. It all comes down to what services adopt them and how they’re used.

    1. You’re absolutely right. I think it’ll be a long time until they become mainstream. The average Joe wouldn’t know to install Tails Export or Oomph or Operator to work with microformatted data, much less know what microformats are at all. Until browsers incorporate easy-to-use ways to find and use microformatted data, it’ll remain a “toy” of the digerati.
