It consolidates all my apps' updating sources and ties into the social site iusethis.com Not sure if there is something similar available for the PC, but I've found it helpful on many levels. The Adobe updater is rather annoying and I too don't like the fact that it keeps telling me I have to close my browser (or other programs) to install the updates.
