It's ridiculous, isn't it? I had made a decision a while ago to rid myself of a vehicle and find some other mode of transportation. For the most part, I walked to where ever I was going. I did this for a long time after I had moved away from Augusta, and then upon my return to this city, I managed to get hit three times, despite my efforts to try and be as cautious as possible.

Drivers here do not pay attention to what is going on around them. When I was struck the first time, it was because someone decided that they needed to reverse out of their parking space at the highest rate of speed that they could. I was struck hard enough that it threw me the rest of the way out of their path, and I am thankful for that. The other times I have been struck, and you're going to love this, have been when I was *using a crosswalk* with the signal indicating I can walk! It was by individuals who were not looking as they approached a corner to make a right turn. I usually do a pretty good job of anticipating people travelling too fast to brake and will patiently wait on them, but those two past incidents snuck by me.

Well, I can only imagine what more will come of this mess with the MCG Police officers. From my experience, it's safer to cross the street where ever the opportunity presents itself, crosswalk or not. Why does this city seem to be hellbent on torturing its citizens with its perceived idiocy? Smart people in this government; but not a lot of smart ideas. Go figure.
