I am not familiar with that particular plugin or how it happens to work with core WP functions. It's possible that it uses posts_nav_link instead <code><?php posts_nav_link('|','Previous Entries','Next Entries'); ?></code> ... You may want to contact the plugin author for additional assistance with implementing it. I am using <?php next_post_link('&laquo; %link') ?> and <?php previous_post_link('%link &raquo;') ?>.
