$4.99 per episode is absolutely retarded. I'm sorry. NBC, you suck. Seriously. I willingly parted with $1.99 per episode of Heroes Season 1. Thanks for saving me the trouble of parting with the money I would have spent on Season 2.

Here's a clue... Apple's created a mechanism that makes it easier for content creators to sell music and or videos to buyers. While I'm not happy with the DRM situation, it's tolerable ONLY because I can take the shows and music I buy off of iTunes with me. Yes, NBC can take the content and try to sell it direct, but I <strong>guarantee</strong> it won't do nearly as well as it did while on iTunes. People bought NBC's shows off of iTunes because it was convenient and relatively affordable.

Good luck with the new venture, I'll be counting the seconds until it fails miserably.

Can anyone recommend a good torrent client for the PC?

They can't see the forest for the dollar signs.

They wanted to charge $4.99 per episode, which would be over $100 per regular 20+ episode season, plus only offer episodes in bundles.

I can't answer for y'all, but if I want an episode of The Office, I don't want to also be paying for an episode of The Singing Bee or Bionic Women.

Typical of entertainment companies though. They set a president that their media is worth a certain amount of money, then they try to demand more. Blah.

You would have been spending a lot more if NBC got there way. $4.99 per show. Here is the link to Apple's response: <a href="http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/story.aspx?guid=%7BA124278C-AF65-49D0-A32D-2B4D0976BAC3%7D&siteid=nbk&symb=" rel="nofollow">Link</a>

<ins>Fixed the entry with the link from your second post. - Chris</ins>

Well, if they pull the shows from iTunes, they'll have to put them somewhere if they hope to make some money off of the shows. To me, XLM is far from ideal. The thing that I love about purchasing stuff off of iTunes is that I can put them on my iPod. Oh well, guess I'll just have to settle for buying the DVDs when they come out and ripping my own iPod-friendly files.

Craziness. I know several people that watched the entire Heroes season exclusively over iTunes and everyone buys episodes of The Office. I'm just glad it's not Lost that we're losing.

An interesting note, the Heroes pilot from season 1 is now available for free in HiDef on the Xbox 360 Marketplace... maybe they're switching platforms?
