Transformers
For me, two things are certain this morning: 1) Transformers was an awesome movie; and 2) I will be seeing it again soon. I was worried that somehow the movie would sully the memories I had of the cartoon growing up, but that worry was for naught. Thanks for not screwing it up, Michael Bay.
I caught an 8:30pm screening of the movie last night with a fairly sizable group. I made it a point to try and catch this movie on the very first night because there is something about watching a movie such as this with a group of like-minded geeks/fans. There’s an excitement in the crowd that just isn’t there at other times… I’ve seen many other movies like this including all three Star Wars prequels, the Matrix sequels and a couple of the LOTR movies… and you just can’t beat the experience.
The detail of the Autobot and Decepticon robots was fantastic! Watching them transform from vehicle-mode to robot brought back a lot of memories - and the audience cheered quite a few times when it happened… The transitions were near seamless… There were more than a couple of times, too, where the robots were in motion/driving and transformed while moving… Those scenes blew me away.
The human storyline was an unfortunate necessity in the movie, but to me much of it felt like fluff… In discussing the movie with Wyatt afterwards, he mentioned that he would have loved to have seen more Autobot-on-Decepticon action. I’d have to agree. But seriously, any shortcomings the storyline might have had were more than made up for with all of the action in the movie.
I cannot wait to see it again. It’s the first movie I’ve seen in a long time that I could truly describe as a summer blockbuster. If you get a chance, check it out.

Awesome Chris. I’m definitely thinking of taking in this movie, so it’s good that I could hear what you thought about it.
Go see it!
Will do Chris, will do.
