Rise of the Silver Surfer: Not Great, Not Bad

Not content with seeing it just once, I braved Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer for a second time. The verdict: it’s not that bad of a movie. The Silver Surfer really made this movie for me. The special effects added a lot, and really brought the character to life. Plus, Lawrence Fishburne played the voice of Silver Surfer, and what’s not to love about that?
Pros:
- Silver Surfer is absolutely awesome in the movie.
- Special effects were pretty spot on.
- Doctor Doom.
Cons:
- The movie could have been a bit better if they didn’t spend so much time focusing on Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Susan Storm (The Invisible Woman) getting married.
- Some of the characters were way too whiny…
- Not enough action.
Bonus: One of the cooler things about the movie, imho, is there are two scenes in the movie where Galactus makes a quasi-appearance. The first is when Galactus is approaching Earth and is passing Saturn… you see the silhouette of Galactus covering the planet…. The second time you’ll sort of see him is towards the end of the movie… You’ll catch a glimpse of a loose silhouette of him, plus the colors used in the comics….
