My two favorite shows on television - Heroes and Lost - end this week. While I am excited to see them draw their season to a close, I am saddened to know the shows won’t be back on for a while. Heroes will return for a second season in the fall with the introduction of a spinoff called Heroes: Origins to fill in some of the time the show will take off during the winter. Lost will return, without interruption, in January 2008. Thinking about it now… it seems like it will be forever before new episodes air.

Heroes

Heroes caught me off guard this season. I didn’t expect it to be as good a show as it has turned out to be. It’s an anomoly on television. I’ve never known a show to be this good, this strong, all season long. Nor have I seen a show that has provided a more immersive experience online. Heroes has excelled where many shows have failed. From the weekly graphic novels to the Heroes 360 tie-ins, Heroes has delivered each and every week.

I don’t know what will happen tonight with the finale, but I’m excited about the future of the show and what’s in store for us next season. New heroes and new stories await, and I can’t wait to go along for the ride.

The first season DVD will be out on August 28. You can even preorder it from Amazon.com!

Lost

I was almost ready to give up on Lost after the long hiatus early on in the season. I know the show’s producers had a good reason for the break, but it caused me to doubt the show. I know I wasn’t alone… Slowly but surely, though, my faith in the show was restored … Questions were answered, secrets were revealed, and in the process the show became more interesting to me, in spite of the fact that even more questions were introduced.

Wednesday’s two-hour finale looks to be awesome. I’ll be heading over to Scott & Jessica’s house to watch it, and I can’t wait!
