Iraq Pullout in ’08?

Standard

I want our troops home as much as the next guy. If the Democrats have their way, they might be returning home sooner than any of us could have imagined. (Democrats Rally Behind a Pullout From Iraq in ’08)

Honestly though, is this really a smart thing to do? Might we consider that this will embolden the Iraqi insurgents even further, by acknowledging our defeat? We really ought to think this through. This could potentially put more troops lives at risk in the interim, if this course of action is chosen.

  1. Your agruement is one that is being discussed by many people in our nation and in the world. However I believe that Iraq is in the middle of a power struggle (some have called it a civil war). Bringing the our troops home and away from the growing internal conflict may be the best thing for Iraq as a country.

I believe that while Congress will succeed in bringing the major mass of troops back home, we will continue to use our special forces to go in and take out suspected militants, etc.

It is time to let the Iraqis determine their own future and excercise there freedom.

  3. Iraq and the Middle East will always be in disarray. As long as there is Western influence in the Middle East, there will be disarray. Pulling out too many troops will put the one’s that remain in greater risk.
