I hate to say I told you so, but Heroes laid the smackdown on 24 last night. Take a bite out of that, Jack Bauer!
The peacock opened the night at No. 1 by a wide margin with an average of 17.6 million viewers and 5.2 rating/13 share in adults 18-49 for game show “Deal or No Deal,” according to preliminary estimates. Fox was competitive in the hour with the return of drama “Prison Break” (9.9 million, 4.2/10).
“Heroes” (14.8 million, 6.5/15) grew in the demo derby at 9 p.m. even in the face of “24? (14.4 million, 5.4/12) with its first regular time period airing of the season following last week’s four-hour premiere spread over Sunday and Monday nights. CBS’ “Two and a Half Men” (16.1 million, 4.9/11) held on to No. 1 in viewers in the 9-9:30 p.m. half-hour. CBS’ “The New Adventures of Old Christine” (13 million, 4.2/9) fell to third behind “24? and “Heroes” in the second half of the hour.
And to think, people were actually worried that Heroes might fair poorly versus the veteran it was up against… Never doubt the power of geeks and their TV shows…

I’ll be buying 24 off of iTunes now and watching Heroes live. It is such a fun show to watch.
I watch Heroes live, record it on my DVR, and buy the episodes when they come out the next day on iTunes (so I can watch the episodes on my iPod video).
I do the same thing with Lost.
If I did watch 24 (and I won’t) I’d record it on my dual-tuner DVR box from Comcast…. that thing has been the greatest addition to my television viewing… I love being able to watch one show and record another…

How do you like Comcast? Here in Arlington it is one of one option I can have at my apartment. No dishes allowed here. I wish we were in a new development and get Verizon Fios (the fiber optic cable).
But I was curious of how Comcast was in you neck of the woods because I just told Vale that I wasn’t investing any more money than I had too (this as our cable froze and digitized)

It’s okay… we have other options available in our area, but none have the same offerings as Comcast.
In our area you can choose from Comcast, Knology, Dish Network or DirecTV. The only viable alternative I’ve seen to Comcast is DirecTV, and only because they have a lot more HD programming (and more on the way).
Comcast gets digitized for us too… and I have issues with the DVR box locking up from time to time. I’m not quite sure what the exact issue is… but if I turn my TV off for an extended amount of time but leave the box on… the picture is nothing but snow when I cut the TV back on. I Have a feeling it’s an issue with the HDMI port screwing up or maybe it’s because the box runs out of diskspace… whichever it might be… I can always solve the problem by powering the box down and then cutting it back on.
Other than that, I’ve been more than happy with Comcast.

Cool… Thanks for that info. It is good to know that the digitizing is not a local problem (sort-of). We don’t have any of the HD services… still an old square box for us (although we go drool at the widescreens at Best Buy too often). One day I suppose.

Watching Heroes and Lost in HD is unbelievable…
We got a 32in Westinghouse LCD TV from Best Buy last year that more affordable than you might think… It’s not the biggest TV we’ve had (it replaced a 36in CRT tv), but it’s great for watching HD broadcasts.
