Stepping Inside Church After a Long Absence

Dayspring Baptist Church - Augusta, Georgia

This morning, I attended church for the first time in nearly nine years. I’ve spent the last few months exploring my relationship with God and with Jesus Christ, and today - acting upon an invite from my friend, coworker and Brother in Christ, Scott Villemain - I stepped foot once more into a church.

From the outside, Dayspring Baptist Church isn’t much to look at. Inside, though, one can find masses of people truly devoted to the Lord. I was excited and nervous to be there. I was definitely outside of my comfort zone, seeing as I’ve never been a “church person”. But as I overcame my own nervousness, I felt welcome and at home.

The worship service was filled with music, scripture, and praise. I was able to meet several people from the church - Jeff, Curtis, and others - and they all made me feel comfortable there. At one moment, the pastor spoke of The Matrix… and my ear perked up. He talked about how in the Matrix, Neo had a purpose - he was the “One”. Just like Jesus was/is the One. It’s amazing how someone can mention something like that, and instantly strike a chord with someone like me.

It has been far too long since I stepped inside a church, but I’m glad that I finally did it. Thank you, Scott for devoting the time time and energy in helping me become closer to Him. I’m a firm believer now, that everthing happens for a reason. I think God had a reason for allowing me to fail at the Alison Group, so that I might end up over at PowerServe. Because of that event, I met you, and you continue to help me on my spiritual path.
